We provide grants averaging $150 to Stark County children in grades K-12 who are identified by our network of teachers, community liaisons, religious and social workers. The liaisons complete a simple application and, upon approval, Katie's Kids provides a check or gift card to the liaison to give to the child's caregiver so they can purchase the item with their child to ensure the dignity of the caregiver. In the first year, the intent is to distribute $15,000 that has been collected from generous donations, a golf outing, shirt sales, and a 5K run. In its infancy, Katie's Kids has raised over $60,000 to start its mission. The goal is to provide $10K to $20K annually in donations with the remaining funds building a financial base and donating $3,000 in scholarships in Katie's name.
